Flat, fun, and easy-on-the-knees!

Logan-to-Mendon in the shadow of the Wellsville Mountain Range.

As we considered features of the world’s greatest marathons that would become the foundation of the New Logan Marathon, we discovered that many of the greatest offer level roads, mild slopes, and merciful downhills; such as, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, and Berlin. Also top on the list were magnificent views and beautiful vistas. With this in mind, we decided to break-out of the punishing downhill trend and create the “Flattest Run in the West” through one of the most beautiful valleys in the west.

Our original plans were to have the The new 2019 race route start and finish on Historic Center Street in downtown Logan, however the Center Street Construction is still underway and will not be completed until October. In 2019, we will simply move everything over one block to 100 North, and close the entire city block between Main Street and 100 West. On the day of the event, we will let you get your beauty sleep and start the racing as the dawn breaks (~ 7am), with a shotgun start as the sun crests the Cone of the Wellsville Mountains. Marathon, 2-person Relay, 10K, and 5K runners will proceed west on Historic Logan and Center Street district for 6 blocks before turning south towards Logan River Golf Course and the Logan River Trail system. Once under the 1000 West river tunnel adjacent to Icon Health and Fitness World Headquarters, runners proceed on open country roads towards Mendon on a beautiful closed-course. Lush wetlands and streams on both sides of the course, little or no traffic, and race grade at or near 0, are sure to make this course a new favorite for all runners.

Mile 8 - 11 and Mile 14 - 17 will be closed one-way to local traffic while runners are out and back. Mendon City Park is 13.2 miles, or halfway thru the marathon distance, & will be the transition point for Relay Teams.

Halfway point of the course and mid-run support station is at the beautiful Mendon City Park. Marathon Relay partners hand-off their markers, and both groups return back toward Logan along Mendon Road. Once back into Logan City, runners will follow the Logan River Trail through wooded sections along the Logan River Golf Course, through Willow Park and Cache County Fair Grounds, before finishing again along Historic Center Street with a clear and strait approach to the finish line.

Once at the finish line in Downtown Logan, the huge party is just beginning. All runners receive a big finisher medal, a yummy post-run brunch provided by several Center Street Restaurants, event photos, and results in big-event fashion. And at the heart of the party is the Altra Runner’s Festival with awesome vendors, live music, and plenty of drinks and refreshment to reward your incredible accomplishment.

The 10K, 5K and 1 Mile fun run courses will also be great routes past parks and on flat traffic-controlled city streets. See course maps and turn by turn lists below;
